I love this stitch pattern and it’s distinctness. As a motif rather than an overall pattern, it provides a bit of an Aran feel without cabling.

Tension:
26 sts = 5.5 inches across in scarf pattern @ row 4 (widest part of scarf).

Materials:
• 2 100g/128yds skeins Cascade 128 Tweed [colour used here is 6722] or other chunky-weight yarn/wool (I have only tested this pattern with the Cascade Tweed so I would recommend wool or wool blends. I think it would probably work OK in cotton or acrylic as well, but use your discretion).
• set of 6mm/US10 needles (if you are a really tight knitter you will probably want to go up a size)
• tapestry needle

Skill-level • Easy-Intermediate:
Skills: knit, purl, being able to recognize knit and purl stitches in fabric, increasing, decreasing

Finished Size:
56 inches long. You will probably have enough yarn left to go a bit longer or to fringe if desired. The yarn relaxes a bit after blocking, so if you use this yarn, keep that in consideration.

CO = cast on
K = knit
P = purl
st(s) = stitch(es)

Sl1kw = slip a stitch with working yarn at back of work
Sl1pw = slip a stitch with working yarn at front of work
